ARTS (A Reason To Survive) Link Weekly educational field trips, where children participate in innovative arts-based programs such as painting, graphic design, music and photography. The children are matched with local artists that provide continuity and positive adult role models.
American Friend Service Committee Link Provides immigration rights workshops, focusing on most recent immigration laws and offering one on one advice to residents.
City of Refuge Link Provides weekly food distribution, furniture and clothing donation.
Easter Seals Link Group of adults with developmental disabilities volunteers, assisting with clerical tasks.
Home Start Link IRS trained volunteers provide free tax preparation and Q&A sections with each resident. The group also provides yearlong educational workshops on taxes.
Feeding America San Diego Link Through Home Start, provides monthly food distribution.
Jewish Family Services Link Provides parenting classes and educational workshops.
King Chavez High School Link Our community coordinators serve as mentors to KCHS students, which intern at the Learning Centers, tutoring children and participating in day to day activities.
Positive Adventures Link Organize events where children are given brand new bicycles, helmets and school backpacks as part of their team building exercise with high profile clients. Our youth have the opportunity to talk and meet business professionals from all over the United States.
San Diego Children’s Choir Link The organization provides singing lessons to children K-12 and opportunity to participate in performances with the San Diego Children’s Choir.
San Ysidro Health Center Link The “Healthy Steps Program” operates through a mobile clinic that performs health checkups with emphasis in diabetes and high blood pressure.
San Diego City College Link Teaches free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, with credit towards residents GED.
San Diego City College / New Horizon Link Provides book loans to low income students that were referred by our Family Learning Centers
San Diego Futures Foundation Link Provides discounted computers for residents and refurbished computers with Microsoft Office for the Learning Centers.
San Diego Youth Action Board Link The agency provides classes for teenagers, teaching about self-steam, team building and how to deal with bulling at school.
San Diego Family Justice Center Link Community workshops on domestic violence and mandated child abuse
SAY San Diego Link Provides educational workshops targeting teenage girls. The main focus of the classes is to reduce the risk of contracting and preventing HIV and STD diseases.
South Metro One Stop Career Center Link Assists residents with job placement and basic leaving assistance such as EBT cards and gas cards.
Uplift Kids at Heart Link Tutoring program for children K-12, with main focus in math and end of year math test. The last 10 minutes of each section is dedicated to reading and comprehension.
University of San Diego – Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science Link Nursing students perform weekly blood pressure, health checkups, presentations and interactive classes on health and nutrition. The students also organize health fairs and build community gardens.
University of California – Supercomputer Center Link Undergraduate and graduate students provide residents with digital media and technology enabled educational enrichment. They assist with math and science homework and work on digital storytelling and stop-action animated movie creation.
USMC Toys for Tots Link Provides free toys and bikes for children during the holiday season.
Willie Henderson Sports Complex Link Provides cooking classes for children and developed a healthy recipes book.
